Vocabulary Words

Words are presented in the order they appear in The Adventures of Starfoot and Brown. Definitions are for the words as they are used in the book. Many of these words have additional, alternate meanings in other contexts.

Chapter 3 – Moc

*Trill: sing with rapid notes one after the other

*Chimney: smokestack

*Bamboo: woody hollow-stemmed grass used for floors, furniture

*Mysterious: causing wonder and surprise

*Daub: smear of color

*Whitewalls: white bands, usually on the side of car tires

*Ancient: having lived for many years

*Lagoon: a shallow canal or pond

*Rogue: vicious and destructive

*Scampered: ran playfully and nimbly

*Mongrel: a cross-bred dog

*Ruffian: tough character

*Submerged: under water

*Brackish: salty and not appealing
